A BIT OF HISTORY
 Patrick Gordon Framing opened its doors a few years ago after many years of watching artists in Ottawa struggle to
understand and afford picture framing in an industry that had increasingly
ignored their needs. Patrick made it his personal mission to change
that. The staff at PGF are
framers who came from the art world first, and now offer decades of experience
and creative solutions to local artists, photographers, and galleries.
Knowing that artists can rarely afford it, we have kept the costs of
picture framing lower by running a studio and workshop rather than a retail
storefront. Keeping the
overhead low helps to keep our prices down, resulting in higher profits for
the client…what a damn good idea! Instead
of spending on advertising, we aim to create strong relationships with art
organizations and artists.
A BIT OF
NEWS  In order to support this crazy idea,
Patrick Gordon Framing does offer services
to businesses
and individuals who purchase
art, whether
it's government, embassies,
designers, high tech, lawyers, or parents of
artists. We
may even accept occasional non-art items
such as certificates, documents, posters…(Patrick's arm
can be twisted). Just don’t bring hockey shirts. Please.
Although we are not crazy enough to turn anyone away, we want to
maintain a focus on providing a high quality, dependable and affordable
service to artists and their collectors. We
are in a position to outbid (if we desire) most commercial picture framers
without compromising our workmanship or quality materials.
TODAY If
you are tired of choking on framing costs, and especially if
you are avoiding making art purchases because of the high
costs of framing, come and see us. The staff at PGF are artists who also happen to be
great framers with
professional training...we
currently have on staff about 60
combined years of framing experience. With this, we lecture customers, argue constantly (discuss
reasonably??) amongst ourselves, and do
excellent work. We believe a successfully framed piece
of art should be attractive
and safely stand the
test of time...it will meet archival
standards, while keeping
in mind the requirements of the artist or
purchaser. We take our responsibilities to the client
seriously; in spite of the joking, you can take us
seriously too.
