Thanks to all the artists who took part in the show; you made
Ottawa look good. A big thanks to Lisa and Laura at Octopus Books
as well, for sowing the seeds to such a great combination event,
and for pulling off an excellent launch!

PATRICK GORDON FRAMING was very excited to
co-host the launch of Yann Martel's What is Stephen Harper
Reading with Octopus Books on Monday, November 16. The launch
and reading was accompanied by BACK BURNER, a show of artworks to
support (or inspired by) the ideas in Martel's letters to the
Prime Minister, his book choices, or concerns with funding for
the arts. MC for the evening of the launch was Peter Honeywell,
the Executive Director of the Council for the Arts in Ottawa.
Visit www.whatisstephenharperreading.ca to read the letters and
reading suggestions.
A special vernissage and preview evening for the artworks was
held on Saturday, November 14. In many cases, artists had
available statements conveying their own message to the Prime
Minister...BACK BURNER will remain hanging until just before
Christmas '09, so there's lots of time to come in and see
the work contributed to the show...and to buy something fabulous!
To learn more about the artists, click the name and follow the
links to their own sites at left. For photos from the
events, keep scrolling! First up are the launch photos, followed
by the vernissage.
